Putting. It's not that simple you see, or do you ?

Fact: The majority of golfers see the hole as being to the right of where it actually is. Think about that for a moment or two.....(The reasons behind this are decribed in a book by Dr Craig Farnsworth, a golfer and optometrist ) but for now lets just assume that's true. So your on the course, 1st hole, 5 footer for a par, you aim the putter, strike the putt and the ball misses by an inch. What happened ?, did you push it, misread it ?, hit it through the break ? move your head ? Fact is you don't know and then the doubt sets in. 3rd hole, 6 footer for a birdie, left to right putt and your thinking, make sure to keep the blade square, don't hit it though the break, head still .., the result, a tentative putt finishing short and right of the hole. May as well walk in because it's not going to get resolved because you simply don't see.

Putting & Shooting

Lets take the same golfer and take him for some target shooting, remember this guy sees the hole (target) as being to the right of where it is. He fires off 6 shots, quite nicely grouped high and right of the bull. He adjusts his sights and fires off 6 more spread nicely around the bull. His problem is solved, his gun sight has compensated for his vision error and it's something he doesn't need to think of again. If only putting was that simple !
